Pre Treatment Advice

In order for your new permanent makeup to heal properly and look its best, pre-treatment and aftercare instructions must be followed and your skin in its best condition possible

Your permanent makeup procedure is a two stage process.  For best results you are required to return for a colour boost visit around 6 weeks after your initial treatment (this is included in the initial price).

Botox and filler on the forehead, temple and eye area should be avoided 1 month prior.

Discontinue Retina-A at least 4 weeks prior

Avoid chemical peels, micro-dermabrasion at least 3 weeks prior.

Avoid sun/tanning 2 weeks prior.

No eyebrow waxing, tinting or threading one week prior.

Don't take aspirin (unless medically advised)/ibuprofen 48 hours before procedure.

Avoid Vitamin E, fish oil, prenatal vitamins 48 hours before procedure.

Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before procedure.

Avoid excessive excercise 24 hours before procedure

Avoid excessive caffeine on the day of procedure.

Aftercare Advice

  • Aftercare is key to the healing of your permanent makeup and must be strictly followed. If you pick at them you will loose colour healing unevenly and you may risk scarring or infection and will be liable to pay for additional retouches (yes we can tell!)

  • You may notice whiteness or blanching around the area, this is normal and will subside within a few hours.

  • You may get some swelling, this is normal and should subside within 2 days.

  • In some cases there may be slight bruising. This should last no longer than 1 week.

  • Remember your colour will be darker and more prominent for 5-7 days on average.

  • Full aftercare advice will be given during your appointment.

Once your permanent makeup has healed you are now able to use makeup, cleansers, toners, moisturisers and return to normal activities.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. You will require a patch test at least 48 hours before treatment.

You must be 18 years or over to have permanent makeup.

As a precaution, we do not perform cosmetic tattooing if you are pregnant or breast feeding.

The sensation is varied as everyone has a different pain threshold and level of sensitivity. Pre-care instructions must be followed and are designed to limit bleeding and skin sensitivity during the treatment and to give the best results. Some key things to note before booking your treatment if your worried about pain are:

  • Treatment during your menstrual cycle may increase discomfort.
  •  If you are a frequent smoker, the topical aesthetic used during the treatment may not last as long and also may lead to poor retention.
Other illnesses may affect your sensitivity tolerance during the treatment.

The healing process is around 4-8 weeks. It is normal to experience minimal swelling and tenderness immediately after your treatment, this usually subsides within the first hour or two. The first week following your treatment the pigment will appear darker than how it will appear once it has fully healed. Around week 2, the skin naturally exfoliates and sheds. During weeks 4-8 when the skin has completely healed, you will see the true colour of the pigment. A top-up session approximately 4-8 weeks after your initial appointment is necessary in order to achieve that richness of colour and density in the shape.
The pigment will fade over time and we recommend to get an annual top-up to keep your permanent makeup looking it best. On average top-ups are recommended every 12-18 months. In some cases it will be longer or shorter.

The frequency of top-ups depends on a number of factors including: skin type, pigment selection, lifestyle, sun exposure, iron deficiency, chemical peels, products, etc. Please note that the final results can not be guaranteed as each unique skin type will hold pigments differently and will break down at different rates.
Permanent makeup is a process, and will not be complete in just one appointment. For best results at least 2 appointments are needed, each appointment being 6-8 weeks apart. At the second appointment which is your colour boost, I will assess the colour retention and make the adjustments necessary.

Everyone heals differently and at different speeds. If your permanent makeup does not heal perfectly the first time, do not worry! We can always add more colour and density at your next appointment.

If you have oily skin or open pores, the hairstroke method is not recommended, as colour will not retain as well and hair strokes will not be crisp. The constant production of oil will cause the hair strokes to heal with a diffused, softer look or the pigment may not stay in the skin at all. Your end results will look more powdered instead of crisp hair strokes.
Permanent makeup may not be suitable for everyone. A full consultation is carried out before any treatment. If you have any concerns please let us know and we can discuss your treatment options.
We strongly advise to book appointments at least 3-4 months in advance of Vacations, Weddings, and Special Occasions. This allows adequate time for healing of both your Initial Appointment as well as a colour boost session 6-8 weeks later. Permanent makeup is a multi step process and cannot be achieved in just one session. Some clients may need more than two appointments to achieve the desired colour density and shape.
All treatments are performed using the most up to date permanent makeup equipment and techniques and assure the highest standards of hygiene are adhered to throughout your procedure.
During your appointment depending on which procedure we are doing I will look at your face shape, natural hair growth, brow, lip or eye shape skin tone and makeup style before discussing your expectations and what you are looking to achieve from your procedure. I will pencil your brows, lips or eye liner in first and only when you are happy with the shape and style will I proceed with treatment.
